Rautaruukki to supply steel structures for first Samsung factory in Russia
Rautaruukki Oyj Press release 5 March 2008
Rautaruukki is to supply steel structures for the construction of Samsung's
first factory in Russia. Rautaruukki will deliver the walls, roofing and the
metal frames for two production buildings. The new factory will be built in the
Vorsino industrial zone in the Kaluga Region, some 200 km southwest of Moscow.
- Ruukki's products are ideal for projects that require global brands to
conform to international quality standards. We have earlier supplied steel
structures, for instance, to Renault for their production facilities in Russia,
states Sergey Chernishev, Vice President, Sales, Eastern Europe, Ruukki
Construction.
The delivery consists of more than 2,000 tonnes of steel structures, which will
be manufactured at Ruukki's Obninsk unit in Russia.
Production will start-up in autumn this year and will reach full capacity in
2010. The new Samsung factory will mainly produce liquid crystal display (LCD)
TV sets. Later, the factory will start producing the full range of Samsung's
consumer electronics.
